Former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has offered insight into his success at the Santiago Bernabeu, having won three Champions League titles and two La Liga crowns during his time in charge.
His comments come as Madrid endure a turbulent season, having sacked Xabi Alonso midway through his first campaign and replaced him with Alvaro Arbeloa.
Alonso departed after less than eight months in the role, with defeat to Barcelona in the Spanish Super Cup final proving decisive.
In a club statement, Real Madrid confirmed the decision was made by mutual agreement, praising Alonso as a club legend and thanking him and his staff for their work.
Arbeloa’s reign began in disastrous fashion as Madrid were knocked out of the Copa del Rey by Albacete, losing 3–2.
Several star names, including Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham, were left out of the squad and were sorely missed.
Despite the setback, Arbeloa insisted he had no regrets, taking full responsibility for team selection and tactics while stressing the lack of preparation time.
Speculation has already emerged over Arbeloa’s future, with former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp mentioned as a possible replacement should Madrid’s struggles continue.
