Spain teammates Dani Carvajal and Lamine Yamal were involved in a heated confrontation after Real Madrid’s 2-1 victory over Barcelona in El Clásico on Sunday.

The match ended in chaos as players from both sides clashed at full-time, with Yamal at the centre of the storm. Carvajal was seen exchanging words with the teenager near the centre circle, reportedly telling him: “You speak too much. Speak now.”

Yamal attempted to respond but was pulled away by his Barcelona teammates as tensions threatened to boil over.

It was a much-needed win for Real Madrid, who had lost all their previous meetings with Barcelona last season. Kylian Mbappé and Jude Bellingham were on target for Madrid, while Fermin Lopez netted Barca’s only goal from Marcus Rashford’s assist.

Mbappé also saw a penalty saved by Thibaut Courtois, with Real recording 21 shots to Barcelona’s 13 in a fiery Bernabeu encounter.

Speaking after the match, Frenkie de Jong criticised Madrid’s reaction, saying: “When the referee blew his whistle, Real Madrid players went after Lamine. It’s a bit exaggerated. If Carvajal wanted to speak with Lamine, call him or text him. You’re teammates, you know each other. Why make a scene on the pitch?”

Days before the clash, Yamal had sparked controversy by saying on Twitch: “Yes, of course, they steal, they complain…” comments that reportedly angered Madrid’s dressing room.

Carvajal was planning to confront Yamal over those remarks, while Madrid boss Xabi Alonso declined to be drawn in, saying: “For us, what matters is on the grass, what happens on the field.”

Late drama saw Pedri sent off after receiving a second yellow card for a foul on Aurelien Tchouameni, triggering a wider scuffle involving several players.

Jude Bellingham, already substituted, was seen near the melee before being guided away, while Vinicius Junior remained in the thick of the confrontation.

The officials issued further yellow cards to Alejandro Balde and Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin before restoring order.

Pedri’s red card means he will miss Barcelona’s next La Liga match against Elche on November 2, while Madrid face Valencia at the Bernabeu on November 1.
