Jude Bellingham appeared to take a clear swipe at Barcelona starlet Lamine Yamal after Real Madrid’s 2-1 El Clásico win at Santiago Bernabeu.
Under Xabi Alonso, Madrid reclaimed bragging rights over Barcelona in a tense and chaotic encounter that saw tempers flare late in the game.
The match ended with a heated altercation near the touchline after Pedri’s second yellow card. Bellingham, who had been substituted, was drawn into the melee but quickly pulled away.
After full-time, Yamal clashed with Dani Carvajal, who appeared to tell his Spain teammate he “talks too much.” Courtois and Vinicius Junior also confronted the teenager, while Raphinha stepped in to defend him.
Days before the clash, Yamal had angered Madrid players by saying: “Yes, they steal, they complain all the time…”
Those words came back to haunt him when Madrid sealed a 2-1 win and Bellingham responded online with the caption: “Talk is cheap. HALA MADRID SIEMPRE!!!” alongside match photos.
The England star shone on the night, assisting Kylian Mbappé’s opener before scoring Madrid’s second to secure the victory.
After the match, Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong downplayed the altercation, telling reporters: “I didn’t see what happened. I was on the bench and saw a lot of people. When the referee blew his whistle, Real Madrid players went after Lamine. It’s a bit exaggerated.”
At just 17, Yamal has already won the European Championship and the Kopa Trophy twice but is currently struggling to find form, having not scored in La Liga since the third game of the season.
The Barcelona winger will now look to rediscover his spark ahead of their next La Liga fixture against Elche on November 2.
