Real Madrid beat Villarreal 2-0 as Mbappe scores twice

Real Madrid claimed a vital 2-0 away win over Villarreal in La Liga at the Estadio de la Cerámica, with Kylian Mbappe scoring twice to seal the points.

Mbappe broke the deadlock early in the second half, giving Madrid control after a tight opening period. The French forward then confirmed the victory deep into stoppage time, calmly converting a penalty in the 90+4th minute.

Villarreal applied pressure for long spells and created several promising moments, especially in front of their home fans. However, they were unable to find a way past a disciplined Real Madrid defence that stayed compact and well organised throughout the match.

Madrid managed the key phases of the game efficiently. Mbappe and Vinícius Júnior carried the main attacking threat, stretching Villarreal on the counter and forcing the hosts to stay cautious despite their attacking intent.

The result strengthens Real Madrid’s position in the La Liga title race. Carlo Ancelotti’s side now move two points clear of Barcelona at the top of the table, although the Catalans still have a game in hand.

For Villarreal, the defeat is a frustrating one. They remain within touching distance in the standings but will feel they missed an opportunity to take something from the match after failing to turn pressure into goals on home soil.
