Real Madrid have eased concerns over Kylian Mbappe’s ankle injury after he limped off in their 3-1 win against Villarreal.

The France captain scored Los Blancos’ third goal before being substituted in the 83rd minute with a right ankle sprain.

DAZN reporter Sergio Quirante said after the match: “It’s not serious, just a knock to the ankle. He feels good. He’ll most likely travel with France.”

Manager Xabi Alonso was cautious when asked about the forward’s condition.

“We can’t say if Mbappe and Franco won’t be with the national team,” Alonso said. “Let’s hope it doesn’t go any further. Kylian was already having ankle discomfort, and we’ll see how they progress.”
