In an interview with Jorge Valdano for Movistar Plus, the French forward blamed media outlets for fuelling speculation about a supposed rift.

“Two famous players on the same team sell a lot of paper,” Mbappe said. “I have a very good relationship with Vinicius. Much better this year, we got to know each other much better. He’s a great player and, as a person, a very good person.”

Mbappe stressed that both players share the same objective helping Real Madrid win titles. “We know people talk about us for everything, but we have the same goal: to help Real Madrid win titles,” he added.

The pair have started the 2025–26 season in electrifying form. Mbappe has scored 14 goals in his first 10 appearances, while Vinicius has five goals and four assists in La Liga.

Together, they’ve combined for 25 goal contributions, linking up to score in three of eight league games so far — a major improvement from last season’s four in 26.

Real Madrid currently top La Liga with 21 points from eight matches, two clear of Barcelona, ahead of El Clasico later this month.
