Spain continued their flawless start to the 2026 World Cup qualifiers with a convincing 2–0 win over Georgia at a sold-out Martínez Valero Stadium on Saturday night.

Fresh off reclaiming top spot in the FIFA World Rankings, Luis de la Fuente’s side showed exactly why they deserve it. From the first whistle, Spain were in total control, dictating the tempo and pushing Georgia deep into their own half.

Ferran Torres marked his 50th international cap, and the home crowd of nearly 29,000 fans didn’t have to wait long for a breakthrough. A slick team move involving Zubimendi, Pino, and Oyarzabal ended with Yeremy Pino slotting home from close range after a clever assist from Le Normand.

Spain could have doubled their lead when Ferran Torres was brought down in the box, but Georgia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili guessed right to save the penalty and keep his side in the game.

The second half brought more Spanish pressure. Pedro Porro struck the post with a curling effort, and Oyarzabal saw his rebound hit the woodwork again. But the Real Sociedad star wasn’t to be denied minutes later, he unleashed a stunning left-footed free-kick into the top corner to seal the win.

De la Fuente rotated his squad late on, but Spain’s dominance never faded. With eleven goals scored and none conceded so far, La Roja remain unbeaten and full of confidence heading into their next qualifier against Bulgaria in Valladolid.
