Senegal midfielder Pape Gueye has credited Sadio Mane for motivating the team before he scored the decisive goal in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final against Morocco.
“If we talk about the match and how it unfolded, this is the most powerful goal of my career, and most importantly, the most crucial,” Gueye said. “It felt like a release, which is why I celebrated it with such intensity, a little wildly.”
Gueye highlighted Mane’s halftime speech as pivotal.
“Everyone can make mistakes, and we acknowledged that, because we returned to the pitch,” he added. “He managed to do it at the right moment and chose the right words to mobilize everyone again. Thank you, Sadio.”
