Lionel Messi is back with the Argentina national team and could feature against Puerto Rico on Tuesday at Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale.

The 37-year-old captain missed the first friendly of the window – a 1–0 win over Venezuela – to play for Inter Miami, where he scored twice in MLS action.

Messi rejoined Lionel Scaloni’s squad in full training on Sunday as preparations continued for their final match of the break. Argentina staff will decide whether he starts or comes off the bench due to the short turnaround.

The Argentine Football Association confirmed his availability, stating:

“Leo has rejoined the world champions and will be available for Tuesday’s match against Puerto Rico at Chase Stadium… Messi’s return brings great excitement and promises a memorable atmosphere for this international friendly.”

The fixture was initially scheduled for Chicago but moved to Florida due to an immigration crackdown.

Messi watched Inter Miami’s recent MLS game with several Argentina teammates, helping Javier Mascherano’s side climb to third in the Western Conference with 62 points.

Having scored 26 goals in 27 league appearances this season, Messi will look to extend his record of 114 goals in 194 international caps in front of local fans.
