Former Argentina international Javier Zanetti has praised Lionel Messi, calling him “the essence of football” and highlighting his ability to do “crazy things.”
Speaking to Corriere dello Sport, Zanetti reflected on his time with Messi in the national team.
“I played with Leo for five or six years in the national team. He was very young and shy when he first got there, but only off the pitch. I’ve seen him do some crazy things. He is the essence of football. And Diego, well, it’s Diego,” Zanetti said.
The eight-time Ballon d’Or winner continues to shine at 38, currently starring for MLS Cup winners Inter Miami, maintaining his influence and magic on the field.
