Thomas Tuchel has confirmed England will take a full day off before returning to training ahead of their World Cup qualifier against Latvia next week.

Goals from Morgan Rogers, Ollie Watkins and Bukayo Saka sealed a 3-0 win over Wales in a friendly at Wembley on Thursday night, though Tuchel criticised the “silent” crowd for not driving the team to score more.
Avoiding defeat in Riga on Tuesday would secure England’s place at the 2026 World Cup, with Tuchel’s side already seven points clear of Latvia with three games remaining.
“They have a day off and come back tomorrow evening, 24 hours from now,” Tuchel said when outlining his squad’s schedule between fixtures.

The England boss said the rest was well-earned after a strong display. “After a match like this and in a period where they are fully involved in international football and club-wise… I think it is important to use the possibility,” he explained.
Tuchel added that the players could “see the family or go shopping, go to a restaurant and eat something different” before returning to camp on Friday evening to prepare for the trip to Riga.
England were also handed a boost as Harry Kane confirmed he would shake off a minor ankle issue, while Watkins, who struck the post before being substituted, said: “I’m alright, I’ll be alright.”
