Harry Kane future update as Bayern chief issues cryptic message

Bayern Munich director of sport Max Eberl has intensified speculation around Harry Kane’s future after revealing the striker “knows exactly what he wants” amid strong links to Barcelona.

Kane has produced a sensational 2025-26 season, scoring 24 goals in 20 matches as Bayern sit eight points clear at the top of the Bundesliga.

The 32-year-old also helped Vincent Kompany’s side respond to their midweek Champions League defeat to Arsenal with a 3-1 win over St. Pauli, where Raphael Guerreiro, Luis Diaz and Nicolas Jackson found the net.

Kane remains central for England as well, scoring eight goals in eight qualifiers to help Thomas Tuchel’s team top Group K with a perfect record.

He also struck twice in England’s 2-0 win over Albania on 16 November their final competitive match before the 2026 World Cup.

But despite his outstanding form, speculation continues over Kane’s future. His deal runs until 2027, but he can reportedly activate a clause before the end of January allowing him to leave next summer for £56.7m (€65m/$76m).

Eberl says Bayern want him to stay but kept the door open with his comments after the win over St. Pauli.
“Harry knows exactly what he wants and we have plans for him. We would like to continue. We can very, very well imagine that, but we will basically discuss everything with Harry,” he told Sky Sports Germany.

Barcelona’s presidential candidate Xavier Vilajoana also refused to rule out a move for Kane if he wins next year’s election.
“We have incredibly talented players at La Masia, but if we don’t have players, we will look elsewhere,” he told Sky Sports.
Asked if Kane fits that style, he added: “If we don’t have a Harry Kane inside the club, we are going to get him. Why not?”

Kane insists he is relaxed about his future, telling BILD there is “no rush” to discuss a new deal.
“I haven’t had any contact with anyone,” he said. “I feel very comfortable. There’s no rush… I’m really happy in Munich.”

He added that nothing is likely to change before next season, with the World Cup his immediate focus.

Kane will next lead Bayern into the DFB-Pokal last 16 against Union Berlin before a league meeting with Stuttgart.

After the win over St. Pauli, Kompany praised the team’s resilience.
“Such hard-fought wins are part of a season… we kept going and believed in ourselves. We need that over the course of the season,” he said.
