Saudi Arabia Back Away from Record-Breaking Bid for Real Madrid Star Vinicius Jr

Real Madrid winger Vinicius Jr will not be making a sensational switch to the Saudi Pro League this summer.

According to a report from El Larguero, officials in Saudi Arabia have decided against submitting a formal offer for the Brazilian forward despite previously exploring an astronomical deal worth €300 million in transfer fees and a potential salary of €200 million per year.

Saudi Interest Cools After Initial Approach

At the end of 2024, representatives from Saudi clubs made their interest clear, hoping to lure Vinicius with one of the most lucrative contracts in football history. However, plans have now been paused.

Omar Ruben, CEO of AKHS Sports, revealed that the league’s reduced transfer spending is linked to preparations for the 2026 World Cup, as many elite players are prioritizing competitive European football over massive paydays ahead of the tournament.

Vinicius Committed to Real Madrid Despite Contract Talks

The 24-year-old is currently under contract at the Santiago Bernabéu until 2027, and while there has been little movement on a potential extension, Vinicius remains relaxed about his future.

Sources indicate that Real Madrid are carefully managing wage structures, especially after signing Kylian Mbappé and with Jude Bellingham also pushing for an improved deal following his stellar season.

For now, Vinicius is fully focused on continuing his rise as one of Madrid’s key players. The Brazilian has already cemented himself as a Bernabéu favourite and is in no rush to finalize new terms, having communicated his expectations earlier this year.

What’s Next?

With both club and player aligned, all signs point towards Vinicius staying in Spain, aiming to deliver more trophies and build his legacy in white. The saga surrounding his contract is expected to continue in the coming months, but any Saudi switch appears to be off the table – at least for now.
