Hansi Flick refuses to commit future at Barcelona amid Laporta uncertainty

Hansi Flick has admitted he is not yet prepared to commit his future to Barcelona if Joan Laporta is no longer club president.

A Barcelona presidential election is scheduled for March, with Laporta standing to continue his second spell in charge.

Speaking ahead of Saturday’s La Liga trip to Elche, Flick stressed that his focus remains solely on the present.

“This is the future. For now, I’m here and happy to work for this club,” Flick said.

“We’ll see; I can’t answer these questions with 100% certainty.”

The German coach highlighted the importance of stability at the club, praising Barcelona’s player development, squad atmosphere and connection with supporters.

Flick led Barça to the La Liga title in his first season and has them top of the table again, one point ahead of Real Madrid.

Barcelona could extend that lead to four points this weekend, with Madrid playing Rayo Vallecano on Sunday.

Flick also underlined his side’s mentality after recent strong performances, including a 4-1 Champions League win over Copenhagen.

“Every match is crucial,” he said. “Our attitude and mentality are good, and that’s one of our greatest strengths.”
