“Very disappointing” - Van Dijk reacts to concede late in Bournemouth defeat

Virgil van Dijk described Liverpool’s 3-2 loss to Bournemouth as “very disappointing” after the 95th-minute winner ended their 13-game unbeaten run.

“Very disappointing, last minute of the game, very tough to take,” Van Dijk told Sky Sports.

He reflected on Liverpool’s efforts to get back into the match after conceding two quick first-half goals.

“We worked very hard, in the second half especially, to get back in the game. At times, we were open to the counter because we were trying to push for the winner. But yeah, to concede this late is very disappointing.”

Van Dijk addressed potential criticism, explaining the team’s decision-making in the final moments.

“After a game and a moment, it is easy to say he should have done this, he should have done that… but we decided to keep the ball, and eventually they got it.”

He also highlighted the challenge of losing as a Liverpool player.

“Losing never feels good, especially as a Liverpool player. This season, we are trying to find consistency.”

Liverpool had pulled one goal back through Van Dijk and equalised through Dominik Szoboszlai before Amine Adli struck in stoppage time to give Bournemouth the win.
