Hull City to sign Man Utd’s Toby Collyer on loan

Hull City head coach Sergej Jakirovic has confirmed that Manchester United midfielder Toby Collyer will join the Championship side on loan this week.

The promotion-chasing Tigers have agreed a deal to sign Collyer until the end of the season, with the move expected to be finalised in the coming days.

[Hull Live reports] Jakirovic confirmed the agreement after Hull’s win over Preston North End on Tuesday night, which lifted them to fourth in the Championship table.

“I think we will complete the deal for Toby this week,” Jakirovic said following the match.

Collyer spent the first half of the season on loan at West Brom, where he made 12 appearances before returning to Manchester United due to a calf injury.

Jakirovic provided a further update over the weekend, confirming that all terms have been agreed with United.

“With Toby Collyer we are waiting, but I think we have a green light from Man United and I think he will join us on Monday,” he said.

“This is what I know, but we have agreed everything with Man United. He will have a medical this weekend. He is now ready for training.”

The midfielder is a product of United’s academy, and interim boss Michael Carrick and his coaching staff are expected to monitor his progress closely during the loan spell.

Collyer’s contract at Old Trafford runs until 2027, and this move could prove important for his long-term first-team prospects, particularly with a permanent manager due to be appointed at the end of the season.
