Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that defender Ben Davies will require surgery on a fractured ankle sustained during Saturday’s 1-0 Premier League loss to West Ham.
The 32-year-old Wales international was stretchered off after just 19 minutes at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, adding to the misery of Callum Wilson’s 93rd-minute winner for the relegation-threatened Hammers.
The club announced the diagnosis on Monday, stating Davies will go under the knife, though no specific timeline for his return has been provided. Spurs wished the experienced left-back a speedy recovery as he begins his rehabilitation.
The injury comes at a difficult time for Tottenham, who are already under pressure following the defeat that intensified scrutiny on head coach Thomas Frank.
