Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo has decided to stay at the club following the appointment of Michael Carrick as interim head coach, Fabrizio Romano reports.
The 22-year-old England international had seriously considered pushing for a loan move away this month after struggling for minutes under former boss Ruben Amorim, who was dismissed earlier this season. Mainoo had previously sought a temporary exit last summer amid limited opportunities.
Carrick’s arrival has changed the picture, with the new manager immediately showing faith in the academy graduate by starting him and playing him for the full 90 minutes in United’s impressive 2-0 Premier League victory over Manchester City in his first game in charge.
The strong display and renewed trust have convinced Mainoo to commit to his boyhood club, ending any immediate thoughts of departure as he looks to establish himself under the new regime.
