AC Milan beat Como 3-1 to cut Inter gap to three points

AC Milan moved to within three points of Serie A leaders Inter Milan after coming from behind to secure a vital 3-1 away win over Como.

The victory stretched the Rossoneri’s unbeaten league run to 19 matches and kept Massimiliano Allegri’s side firmly in second place.

Como made a dream start when Marc-Oliver Kempf headed home from close range after Martin Baturina’s delivery to put the hosts ahead after 10 minutes.

The Lariani threatened to double their lead soon after, with captain Lucas Da Cunha blazing over from a promising position as Milan struggled to settle.

Mike Maignan was repeatedly called into action as the first half wore on, producing smart saves to deny Nico Paz and Anastasios Douvikas.

Despite Como’s dominance, Milan drew level on the stroke of half-time when Adrien Rabiot was fouled inside the box by Kempf.

Christopher Nkunku converted the resulting penalty to score his fourth Serie A goal of the season and level the contest against the run of play.

Como started the second half strongly, but Maignan again stood firm to deny Paz as the hosts pushed for a second goal.

Milan then punished missed chances just after the hour mark when Rabiot raced onto Rafael Leão’s through ball and calmly finished past Jean Butez.

The hosts came agonisingly close to an equaliser when Paz struck the crossbar from long range.

With full-time approaching, Milan sealed the win in emphatic fashion as Rabiot struck from 25 yards to score his second of the night.

The result keeps Milan second in the table ahead of their home clash with Lecce, while Como remain sixth after losing their unbeaten home league record.
