Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly spent around £7 million on two luxury properties on a secluded private island off the coast of Saudi Arabia.
[The Sun reports] that the Al-Nassr superstar has purchased two villas worth approximately £3.5m each at the exclusive Nujuma resort, located in the middle of the Red Sea and accessible only by seaplane or boat.
The villas are situated around 800 miles from Riyadh and were designed by renowned British architect Lord Norman Foster as part of a high-end private island reserve.
The resort is described as being “among the world’s most private island settings,” with visitors required to fly into Red Sea International Airport before completing the journey by sea or air.
Speaking about the purchase, Ronaldo explained the appeal of the location. [Saudi Gazette reports] he said:
“It’s truly exceptional in every sense of the word. From our first visit, Georgina and I felt a deep connection with this island and its breathtaking natural beauty. It’s a place where we find peace and tranquility.”
John Pagano, CEO of Red Sea International, also welcomed the Ronaldo family to the development, praising the destination’s blend of privacy, luxury and nature.
Ronaldo is reported to have bought one three-bedroom villa and another with two bedrooms, offering space for partner Georgina Rodriguez and their children. The Ummahat Islands properties feature sea-view pools, panoramic windows and luxury facilities including a spa, diving centre and water sports.
On the pitch, Ronaldo is preparing to return with Al-Nassr after the Saudi Pro League winter break. His side currently sit top of the table, four points clear of Al-Hilal.
Al-Nassr have also been boosted by confirmation from FIFA that their transfer ban has been lifted, allowing January signings.
Ronaldo could return to action on December 27 in a league clash with Al Akhdoud, having often been rested during Al-Nassr’s AFC Champions League fixtures.
