Son Heung-min has been voted the winner of the 2025 MLS Goal of the Year for his stunning free-kick against FC Dallas on August 23.



[MLS confirmed] that the Los Angeles Football Club forward’s strike was chosen by fans through voting on MLSsoccer.com, capping off a season packed with spectacular goals.

Son’s curling effort came in the sixth minute at Toyota Stadium and was praised for its precision and technique, standing out as one of the defining moments of his debut MLS campaign.

The South Korean star joined LAFC in August after a decade at Tottenham Hotspur and wasted no time making his mark. His free-kick was his first MLS goal and came in just his third appearance for the club.



Across 10 regular-season matches, Son registered nine goals and three assists an immediate impact for Steve Cherundolo’s side.

Son and LAFC are now preparing to face Austin FC in the first round of the MLS postseason, with Game 1 set for October 29.
