Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior is reportedly facing legal action after his extravagant 25th birthday party in Rio de Janeiro drew noise complaints from locals.
[O Globo via MARCA reports] the Brazilian star built his own mini theme park, ‘Vini’s World’, for around 500 guests inspired by Travis Scott’s Astroworld complete with rides, samba shows and live performances from the rapper himself.
Authorities were called after one resident complained about the noise. Police asked Vinicius and his guests to lower the volume, but the complainant claimed it was later raised again. The case is now being handled by Rio’s 9th Special Criminal Court, with a preliminary hearing set for November 6.
Under Brazilian law, “disturbing the work and peace of others” can lead to up to three months in prison or a fine.
The controversy adds to a difficult few weeks for the 25-year-old, who recently issued a public apology to Brazilian presenter Virginia Fonseca after their reported split. “I was careless and disappointed her,” Vinicius wrote on Instagram, calling for “a restart built on love, affection, and respect.”
Despite the off-field distractions, Vinicius has impressed under Xabi Alonso this season, forming a strong partnership with Kylian Mbappe as Real Madrid sit top of La Liga.
Mbappe told Movistar+: “I have a very good relationship with Vinicius. It’s much better this year. We both want to help Real Madrid win titles.”
Vinicius and Real return to action against Getafe on October 19 before facing Juventus in the Champions League three days later.
