Kris Boyd believes Rangers’ hopes of reuniting with Steven Gerrard may not be over but says the club might need to swallow their pride to make it happen.
The former Rangers striker warned that the Glasgow side could be forced to “get the begging bowl out” if they want Gerrard back in the dugout.

The Liverpool legend pulled out of the race to replace Russell Martin late on Saturday night, with reports suggesting the timing wasn’t right for a return.
That decision has left Andrew Cavenagh and Paraag Marathe still searching for the club’s next manager.
Speaking to The Scottish Sun, Boyd suggested Gerrard could yet be tempted back but only if major structural changes are made at Ibrox.

“The only thing that I could think, maybe, has thrown a spanner in the works is the whole Kevin Thelwell and Patrick Stewart scenario,” Boyd said. “A manager won’t want to take on effectively his bosses.”
He added: “It might be a case where they have to go back to Steven Gerrard with the begging bowl and say, ‘Listen, we need you here, and we’re going to move the structure within the football club to allow you to come.’”
Boyd concluded that Rangers remain “no further down the line” in their pursuit of a new manager.
