Germany’s 4-0 win over Luxembourg did little to end the debate over who should be the national team’s first-choice goalkeeper.

[According to BILD, via Mundo Deportivo], head coach Julian Nagelsmann remains confident in Barcelona captain Marc-André ter Stegen, despite his ongoing back injury.

The report claims Nagelsmann has already decided that Ter Stegen is his No.1 choice, while assistant Andreas Kronenberg helps propose candidates before a joint final decision is made.

Nagelsmann is said to be monitoring Ter Stegen’s recovery closely and has advised him to regain match rhythm to ensure full form.

At the same time, the coach has not ruled out a possible return for Manuel Neuer, while Oliver Baumann who started against Luxembourg is yet to fully convince.

Ter Stegen is expected to push for regular game time upon his return, possibly around December, but uncertainty remains over whether he will play consistently at Barcelona.

While a January exit has been mentioned as an option, the 32-year-old reportedly remains determined to stay with the Catalan club.
