Rio Ngumoha had a dream Premier League debut for Liverpool, scoring a dramatic 100th-minute winner against Newcastle. At just 16 years old, he became the youngest goalscorer in the club’s history, marking an unforgettable start to his Reds career.

Ngumoha Makes History with Late Winner

Liverpool fans witnessed something special on Monday night. Sixteen-year-old Rio Ngumoha scored a stoppage-time winner in the 100th minute to seal a thrilling 3-2 victory over Newcastle United at St. James’ Park. The goal not only gave the Reds all three points, but it also made Ngumoha the youngest scorer in the club’s history.

“I’m Buzzing” – Teenager Reacts to Debut Goal

Speaking to LFCTV after the game, Ngumoha struggled to hide his excitement.

I’m buzzing. I’m so happy to score, especially the winner. What a good moment. Special feeling.

He explained how he followed his coaches’ instructions by making the back-post run, before latching onto a pass from Dominik Szoboszlai. “As the ball came, I just backed myself to score. It’s crazy,” he added.

Arne Slot’s Simple Instruction

The young forward came on in the 96th minute and revealed his manager’s quick words before sending him onto the pitch.

He just looked at me, pointed and said: ‘Quickly, get ready.’ You just have to come on and make an impact. Thank God I did that.

Backed by His Teammates

Ngumoha credited senior players like Mohamed Salah and Szoboszlai for helping him feel comfortable. “All of my teammates encourage me to take on defenders if it’s on, but also to mix it up and find the pass when needed,” he said.

Keeping His Feet on the Ground

Despite the wild celebrations, Ngumoha showed maturity beyond his years. “I can’t get too carried away,” he said. “I probably do that finish 100 times in training, but the fans backing you makes it crazy.”

Looking Ahead to Arsenal Clash

Liverpool fans won’t have to wait long to see their new hero again. Ngumoha could play a role when the Reds host Arsenal at Anfield this Sunday in a huge early-season showdown.
