Nicolas Jackson is set to return to Chelsea this summer upon the expiration of his loan at Bayern Munich, with the 24-year-old Senegal international open to remaining at Stamford Bridge under manager Liam Rosenior.

Jackson joined Bayern on a season-long loan last summer, with the deal including an initial fee of £14.3 million and an obligation-to-buy clause worth £56.2 million that would activate based on a set appearance threshold. However, he has struggled for consistent minutes in Germany, falling short of the required games to trigger the permanent transfer obligation. Bayern are unlikely to pursue a separate permanent deal.

This term, Jackson has recorded five goals and one assist in 22 appearances across all competitions for Bayern, often featuring in a bit-part role behind established forwards.

With the loan concluding at the end of the current campaign, Jackson’s representatives are expected to evaluate options once the season ends. Interest has been noted from clubs in Spain, Italy, and the Premier League, but a return to Chelsea remains a strong possibility, particularly given Rosenior’s recent appointment and the club’s plans to assess squad needs.

Chelsea are not ruling out retaining Jackson as part of their forward line, especially as Bayern’s decision not to activate the buy clause shifts focus back to the player’s original club.
