Marc-André ter Stegen could be sidelined for up to two months after suffering a muscle injury during Girona’s match against Real Oviedo, according to reporter Nil Sola.
Initial medical examinations were reportedly negative, leaving the goalkeeper’s immediate future uncertain and opening the possibility of a return to parent club FC Barcelona. The 33-year-old German, on loan at Girona for first-team football, had played just twice before the injury.
The significant setback potentially stretches his recovery into late spring, impacting Girona’s plans and Ter Stegen’s goal of regaining form ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
