Bruno Guimaraes has been ruled out of Newcastle United’s Premier League match against Liverpool on Saturday evening due to an ankle injury.
The Brazilian midfielder also missed last Sunday’s defeat to Aston Villa with the same issue, sustained during Newcastle’s Champions League match against PSV. He travelled with the squad for Wednesday’s draw at Paris Saint-Germain but remained an unused substitute on the bench.
Speaking on Friday, manager Eddie Howe had expressed uncertainty over Guimaraes’ availability. “It’s slightly unknown at the moment,” Howe stated, explaining the player had done only “next to nothing” in training after a light session in Paris and that a final decision would be made on Friday.
